GAIN THE MENTAL & PHYSICAL well-being YOU’VE ALWAYS WANTED.

Meet Dr. Katherine Jones, Naturopathic Doctor and Mental Health Counselor in Edina & Online across Minnesota

Despite your best efforts to do all the “right” things for your health and wellness, your quality of life is poor.

You’re in the right place.

Okay, maybe poor is a bit harsh, but there is definitely room for improvement in your well-being. Maybe you haven’t felt like ‘yourself’ in several months. Or you are overwhelmed, irritable, and exhausted. Possibly you feel that there has to be a better solution to your symptoms than birth control pills or a pharmaceutical. Experiencing any of these things can be distressing, uncomfortable, and painful.

THERE IS HOPE AND A PATH FORWARD.

I help Millenial and Gen Z women regain their vitality, peace of mind, and overall health. In my role as a naturopathic doctor, I utilize the best modalities that naturopathic medicine has to offer, including lifestyle counseling, botanical medicine, and nutrition. In my role as a therapist, I listen without judgment and act as an advocate and guide as we collaboratively come up with solutions to what is bothering you.

I love helping people figure out the root cause of their symptoms and helping to empower them to take charge of their own health. Whether you are generally healthy, but feeling “stuck” on your path to wellness, or struggle with chronic medical conditions that have not been adequately addressed by conventional medicine, naturopathic medicine and counseling can help you reach your physical and mental health goals.

Life can be a complex, demanding, and often overwhelming journey. It's common for people to feel like they've lost touch with their best selves, wrestling with persistent stress, fatigue, or disempowerment. When we start our work together, we'll holistically explore how you got to this point in your life.

In naturopathic appointments, we’ll discuss natural and integrative medical approaches to help you achieve the physical well-being you've always desired. In psychotherapy sessions, I’ll provide you with tools and philosophies to safely explore your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors so you can keep doing what works and let go of what is no longer serving you. You’ll walk away from our time together being a more vital and fulfilled version of yourself.

YOU’RE not alone IN SEEKING ALTERNATIVES TO STANDARD PRESCRIPTIONS OR QUICK FIXES.

HERE’S THE THING,

I’m human too, and I “get it”. The healing journey can be tough.

I am a dedicated advocate and compassionate practitioner, which means that I integrate my education with my lived experiences and bring my authentic self to patient encounters. I am a millennial, mixed race, secular humanist, first-generation United States-born woman who has lived a life that includes loss, trauma, anxiety, health issues, confusion, and struggle. Through my own healing journey and self-discovery, I've earned wisdom through life's challenges and have cultivated the ability to provide a gentle refuge for those who are also struggling.

I’ve heard my patients say that they like working with me because I’m inviting, thorough, non-judgmental, and direct. I show up as my real, funny, nerdy, self and work hard to make sure that I am meeting you where you are at so that you can get what you want out of our time together. This means that I am an active participant in your care and hope that you will be too.

In my free time, I enjoy cuddling with my two cats, playing tabletop games, a nice latte with quality espresso, getting out in nature, playing video games, doing crosswords with my hubby, cooking new recipes, and tending to my garden and houseplant collection.

MY APPROACH TO NATUROPATHIC MEDICINE

  • Your health and well-being are my number one priority. I typically approach patient care by utilizing the most natural, least invasive, and least toxic therapies. There is a time and place for symptom suppression, however, most naturopathic patients experience improved outcomes from identifying the underlying causes of illness and removing the obstacles to healing.

  • Patient education is extremely important to me. You have a right to know what is going on in your own body, including what your test results mean and how the medicines that you take work. You have a right to know the steps you need to take to achieve and maintain health. My naturopathic approach affirms the importance of prevention and minimizing unnecessary suffering whenever possible. Together, we’ll pinpoint potential areas of imbalance so you can learn how to get well and stay well.

  • All systems of our body are interconnected, and we are connected to the environment around us. Our health is also impacted by our lifestyle, culture, upbringing, and more. We’ll address the different areas of your life that may be impacting your healing including ways to channel your body’s inherent wisdom and healing capabilities. In naturopathic medicine, we call the body’s self-healing process the vis medicatrix naturae (literally, “the healing power of nature”), or the “vis” for short.

MY APPROACH TO COUNSELING

  • My approach is person-centered, humanistic, non-pathologizing, non-judgmental, and focused on personal growth. This means that we are not focused on your diagnosis, but rather on collaboratively problem-solving issues or challenges you might be facing. We’ll develop ways we can use your strengths to help address your concerns instead of “fixing” who you are. You are not “broken”.

  • I often utilize evidence-based Cognitive-Behavioral techniques to help clients identify the connections between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. These techniques can be helpful for challenging thought patterns and negative beliefs that no longer serve you. CBT can also be very practical, allowing us to remain focused in sessions and providing strategies or homework between sessions so that you can get the most out of therapy.

  • Adlerian Therapy is a goal-oriented, holistic, and psychodynamic therapy based on the theories of Alfred Adler. Adlerian Psychology views discouragement and lack of community feeling as the underlying cause of most faulty beliefs and goals of misbehavior, which lead to mental health pathology. From an Adlerian view, the “antidote” to this is encouragement, Gemeinschaftsgefühl (i.e., social interest/community feeling), and a mutually respectful therapeutic relationship.
